A Virgin Media representitive has said that Virgin Media "is working on HD."
A Virgin Media representivive made the following comment following a series of customer 'tweets' on the subject as the thre emonth timescale alluded by Virgin Media for new HD channels is due to elapse around now. The statement says: "We are working on HD including VOD and channels. Until the deals are done we can't announce, but hope to soon." Three months ago Neil Berkett, VM's chief executive, said that HD channels would be available "over the next three months" - and he said that almost exactly three months ago, on 15 December, However, he did say that access to HD was difficult "because a competitor had locked HD away for a period of time." Before this, VM had held the line that it did not see linear HD channels as a necessary part of its offering. Virign Media carries one HD channel - BBC HD - whereas Sky's HD service now has around 30 high defintiino channels. VM also offers limited on-demand HD content.
