CBS Reality (and +1), CBS Drama & CBS Action have all launched replacing Zone Reality (and +1), Zone Romantica & Zone Thriller.
Content for these channels comes from 70,000 hours of programming from CBS's vast catalogue. Dynasty and the original re-mastered series of Star Trek are titles which feature from the beginning. The new channels also carry third party content. The launch of the CBS channels has been made possible due to an agreement with Chellomedia. These channels are Free-to-Air on satellite and are available on the Sky and Freesat platforms to over 13 million homes in the UK. CBS Reality is also available on Virgin Media. Chello, a subsidiary of Liberty Global, continue to operate the channels. The president of CBS Studios International Armando Nuñez has said: “This venture opens a new distribution outlet for our vast library of content, and complements our strong ongoing licensing of programming in the UK and around the world.” Shane O’Neill, the Chellomedia president and Liberty Global chief strategy officer added: “This UK partnership marries our channel expertise with one of the world’s largest libraries of high quality and globally popular programming; we are delighted that CBS and Chello Zone are entering into this prestigious partnership on our UK entertainment television channels.” Zone Horror and its timeshift will are to remain broadcasting for now, it is expected to be rebranded under the CBS family in the future.
