Digital One has turned off its transmitter covering Uxbridge.

The commercial multiplex operator did this following a request from the Ministry of Defence.

The transmitter had been brought into service in 2005 and since then, additional transmitters in the area have launched. This, combined with the increase of power from nearby transmitters means that Digital One hopes that the switching off of the Uxbridge transmitter will not result in a reduction in coverage for people living in the area.

The operator has recently brought into service two new transmitters - one in Surrey and one in Hampshire.
