Plans to improve the coverage and strength of the DAB signal will be launched in London. The London Digital Plan ahs bene developed by Arqiva with the support of the major players in the UK radio industry, including the BBC and the national commercial DAB multiplex owner Digital One. The enhancements will be roleld out to other places in the UK with the aim of eventually matching the footprint of FM, which reaches 99% of the UK. Current DAB transmitter plans will only give coverage to 90% of the country. Ford Ennals, Chief Executive, Digital Radio UK, said: “Digital radio boasts a host of benefits for listeners and it is our highest priority to ensure those benefits are universally available before digital switchover happens. The development of a plan to boost the signal in London is the beginning of a process which will see us build coverage and deliver a digital signal to everyone across the UK.”
