New Sky+ subscribers to be given HD box PDF Print E-mail

Sky has said that all new Sky+ subscribers will be give a HD box as standard.

The news comes on the day that Sky reported that almost 1 in 4 customers now have Sky's high definition service with 2/3 having Sky+.

The pricing will be £49 for the box and £30 installation for new subscribers with existing customers wishing to upgrade paying twice those amounts - £99 for the box plus £60 for installation.

The only time Sky will provide standard defintion boxes will be for rpelacement or for the Multiroom service.

 

Sky chief executive Jeremy Darroch said: "This year, we intend to build on our success by bringing our leading HD box technology to even more customers. From today, we will start selling HD-enabled boxes as standard and customers will receive the box for free when they subscribe to our HD pack of channels. These are important steps which will allow us to grow more efficiently and further accelerate the pace of innovation for customers."
