A high definition simulcast of ITV1 will be on Freeview in time for next year's World Cup.

Around half of the UK will be able to receive high definition channels on Freeview by next June, which is when the football tournament begins.

ITV HD currently only broadcasts as a red bgutton service on Freesat and is said to be "looking at the options" regarding a proper HD channel on the platform.
