Most of Southern Wales has had its analogue TV signal switched off.

Southern Wales has been making the transition during the last couple of months and yesterday saw the final stage in that process for much of central and southern Wales.

Northern Wales and the north west are the next areas to undergo digital switchover. North Wales will make the switch next month with the north west being the first major region to turn off its analogue signals when the Granada region goes digital in November. The final two major transmitters in Wales - Wenvoe and Blaenplwyf - will go digital early next year.

More than a million homes are now digital only and by the end of the year that figure will be nearer to five million as a result of the switchover in the north west.
