Digital UK has apologied for the fact that around 300 homes in Ilfracombe are receiving Welsh television services. The problem has arisen due to the fact that the Ilfracombe relay uses similar frequencies to that of a mast in Wales and the Welsh transmitter broadcasts at a much higher power than the Ilfracombe relay. A Digital UK spokesman said that specialist help is available on the organisation's website and also via their telephone helpline but concoced that issues like this are "extremely frustrating" and also admitted that more information and advice could have been extended to those who are suffering from what people are calling "the Welsh problem.
The problem arose after the 30 September national retune which has resulted in around 3000 complaints from across the UK about loss of channels or equipiment failure.
