BT Vision has annoucned a shake-up of its packages, one of which will see Setanta Sports ceasing to be an add-on channel. The service's Picture Box, Kids, Standard Sports and Music channel sets will continue to exist. However, customers can now subscribe to either two, three or four of the packages as part of new Bronze, Silver and Gold options. Subscriptions will cost £14, £18 or £20 per month and all subscribers will receive Setanta Sports 1 from 6 August regardless of which package they subscribe to.

BT Vision chief executive Dan Marks said "Our compelling offer of the premium sports channel Setanta Sports 1 free with our viewing packages proves you don’t have to pay sky-high prices to watch top-flight football. We’ve said that BT Vision will be offering the best in all-round entertainment. We now have more to watch than any other on-demand TV service in the country and this includes the very best of sport."

This is the second provider which offers Setanta Sports as part of its mainstream pacjages rather than as an add-on subscription as Virign Media offers Senanta's channels as part of tis XL package.

BT Vision has around 200,000 subscribers. New subscribers pay for a box and a £10 one-off fee for a viewing card. They receive the Freeview channels and pay extra for on-demand packages which are provided via IPTV technology. This output includes on-demand, but not live, Premiership matches and will now also include 28 SPL games following a seperate deal announced by the compnay today.
