ITV is to launch a catch-up and archive programming service on BT Vision. The catch-up service will offer ITV programming from all its channels for eight days after broadcast. The archive service will provide around 500 hours of material, all of which will be more than six months old.

Under the terms of the deal ITV will get a fee-per-subscriber payment ina ddition to a minimum annual revenue guarantee.

ITV's online director Ben McOwen said "The deal with BT VIsion allows us to be able to reach new audiences with both our catch-up and archive on-demand content and this deal allows us to add another string to our bow in distributing our content wider." He added "The consumption of ITV content across our platforms [in 2008] has been staggering."

Marc Watson, director of content and business development for BT Consumer, said that the deal marked a "massive addition" to BT Vision's on-demand offering. He added "This makes our catch-up service the best of any platform in the UK,"

Mr Watson is corrent in stating this as this deal means that BT Vision now has more catch-up content than Virgin Media, which only provides BBC and Channel 4 catch-up material. A report had suggested that Virgin and ITV were in discussions for ITV's catch-up service to appear on the cable operator but nothing seems to have come out of those reported discussions. Last month BT Vision did a deal with Five, again something that Virgin does not offer, which means that BT Vision now has on demand programming from all of the UK's terrestrial broadcaster.

BT Vison currently has 340,000 subscribers and people have to have the BT Broadband service in order to be able to access BT Vision. Subscribers pay £3 per month to access the TV Replay element of which the ITV programming is part of.
