England's weekend World Cup qualifier against Ukraine will not be shown on TV and the only way to see the match is via a pay-per-view internet feed. No TV company was apparently prepared to pay the asked amount for the match so the rights agency responsible for the match - Kentaro - has sold the rights to the game to Perform, a digital sports specialist which will offer the match as a pay-per-view option starting from £4.99 if the match is booked before the end of Wednesday. rising to £11.99 if the game is booked on Saturday. The rights to this match had previously been held by Setanta and talks between the various TV broadcasters had been ongoing for a while. However, Kentaro opted for this pay-per-view option for the qualifier when no deal was forthcoming. England has already qualified for the 2010 World Cup so this match is less important than it might have been. England's final qualifier in nine days' time, will be shown on ITV1 due to the game being a home fixture. Future friendly matches which Setanta would have shown will also be broadcasat by ITV. This is the first time in 20 years that an England match has not been shown on television although one of the 2002 qualifiers was shown only on pay-per-view.
