Teletext has closed down, a month earlier than planned. Teletext had planned to close down its information service on analogue and digital television early next year but decided to close ahead of schedule "to allow the process to be as smooth as possible on all platforms, technically and operationally".

All that remains is the analogue racing and bookmakers service on Channel 4, which will appear on Sky and Freesat "in due course." Also continuing will be the 888 subtitles service as well as the profitable travel websites and its gaming services. Apart from that, everything else on ITV, Channel 4 and Five plus Teletext Extra have all closed down.

The closure had been annoucned by owners Daily Mail and General Trust in June due to continued losses. Teletext had been in operation since 1 January 1993 when it won the franchise to provide teletext services for ITV and Channel 4 from ORACLE.
